Recognisable symptoms and possible repair procedures
These are examples of symptoms we can investigate. A symptom can have several causes; examples are not claims of a manufacturing defect and do not apply to every model.
The message does not prove that only the shutter is faulty. Repeated errors need inspection rather than persistent attempts to fire.
Our inspection approach: We inspect the release cycle, power and associated mechanical assemblies. Repair or replacement is decided only after identifying the cause.
D3500: lens not recognised
With compatible lenses, correct mounting and contacts are checked first. Supported operation also depends on the lens type.
Our inspection approach: We inspect the mount, contacts and communication with another compatible lens. Electronic damage may require board repair or replacement.
SD card unavailable or recording interrupted
The card, write protection, compatibility or slot may be responsible. Back up photographs before formatting.
Our inspection approach: We test with a suitable working card, then inspect slot contacts and control electronics. Slot replacement does not include automatic data recovery.
Check the official Nikon documentation ↗ for model-specific messages and limitations. The repair possibilities described here are our inspection approach, not manufacturer instructions for DIY repairs.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the full model name, camera mount where relevant, exact error message and when the problem occurs. Tell us about impact, liquid exposure, previous opening and any adapter or additional equipment. A short video can help explain an intermittent fault.
We first establish the cause and check the required parts. Not every model or type of damage can be repaired; we discuss options, price and an estimated turnaround before work starts.
Our workshop is at Milorada Miškovića 23, Banjica, Belgrade. We are open Monday–Friday, 09:00–16:00. You can speak or write to us in English. Before sending equipment, agree which accessories to include.
