Recognisable symptoms and possible repair procedures
These are examples of symptoms we can investigate. A symptom can have several causes; examples are not claims of a manufacturing defect and do not apply to every model.
Nikon Z6/Z7 with FTZ: F-mount compatibility
Tamron provides firmware support for certain models. The model code matters more than just the focal-length range.
Our inspection approach: We check official compatibility and the installed version. Supported models receive the appropriate update and camera test; some updates require a specific service procedure.
VC or autofocus does not operate correctly
Behaviour depends on the model, mode and camera compatibility. Firmware is not assumed to resolve every symptom.
Our inspection approach: We inspect contacts, focus drive, flexible connections and the VC assembly where fitted. Physical faults may require component repair or replacement.
Zoom jams or sharpness is uneven after a drop
Do not force a stuck ring or move optical groups yourself.
Our inspection approach: We inspect guides, the mount and optical assembly positions. Mechanical repair and final testing depend on the damage and model.
Check the official Tamron documentation ↗ for model-specific messages and limitations. The repair possibilities described here are our inspection approach, not manufacturer instructions for DIY repairs.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the full model name, camera mount where relevant, exact error message and when the problem occurs. Tell us about impact, liquid exposure, previous opening and any adapter or additional equipment. A short video can help explain an intermittent fault.
We first establish the cause and check the required parts. Not every model or type of damage can be repaired; we discuss options, price and an estimated turnaround before work starts.
We update supported SIGMA ART lenses for Canon and Nikon cameras, and supported Tamron lenses for Nikon cameras. We check the complete model, mount, existing version and official compatibility with the camera body. Support varies by model and available manufacturer firmware.
A firmware update is not a repair for physical damage. An unresponsive or mechanically damaged lens needs inspection first.
