Recognisable symptoms and possible repair procedures
These are examples of symptoms we can investigate. A symptom can have several causes; examples are not claims of a manufacturing defect and do not apply to every model.
EOS 500D: Err 01 when taking a picture
The message indicates a camera-to-lens communication problem. If it occurs only when stopping down, the lens may be involved, but the code alone does not identify a failed part.
Our inspection approach: We compare with another compatible lens, then inspect contacts, flexible connections, the aperture and electronics. Confirmed faults are repaired or parts replaced after agreement.
EOS 500D: built-in flash will not rise, Err 05
This message concerns failure to raise the built-in flash. Do not pull the flash head up by force.
Our inspection approach: We check the lifting mechanism, contacts and position detection before assessing the required mechanical or electronic work.
EF/RF lenses: intermittent focus or aperture
Record whether the problem depends on zoom position, aperture or camera body.
Our inspection approach: We test connections through moving assemblies, focus drive and aperture operation across the range. Cable, motor or assembly replacement depends on the model.
Check the official Canon documentation ↗ for model-specific messages and limitations. The repair possibilities described here are our inspection approach, not manufacturer instructions for DIY repairs.
What to include in your enquiry
Send the full model name, camera mount where relevant, exact error message and when the problem occurs. Tell us about impact, liquid exposure, previous opening and any adapter or additional equipment. A short video can help explain an intermittent fault.
We first establish the cause and check the required parts. Not every model or type of damage can be repaired; we discuss options, price and an estimated turnaround before work starts.
Our workshop is at Milorada Miškovića 23, Banjica, Belgrade. We are open Monday–Friday, 09:00–16:00. You can speak or write to us in English. Before sending equipment, agree which accessories to include.
